Well as I sit here with my book in my lap, and a belly full of Panda Express (after a week of fair food, it was a must), listening to the sound of the fans, and the moos of the cows, I can't help but be overcome by the realization that fair week is coming to and end. It's a bittersweet feeling to say the least. This whole experience was a new one for me and my daughter, and I went into it ready to embrace what the 4-H fair is all about. I watched as my daughter made memories with friends; I saw the fair through the eyes of the kids who work hard to be here; I learned how to properly take care of/babysit for a cow for an entire day; I met new people, and enjoyed the company of family and friends; I experienced pride that only can be felt when your child takes home the winning ribbon; I experienced the type of exhaustion that causes you to fall asleep in a chair, catching flies in your drool; and most importantly I learned that:
*4-H isn't just about ribbons and awards, it's about the friendships, the experiences, the life-long skills, the memories; it's about helping each other, giving back, and making the best better!*
A lot of memories have been made this week. I am thankful and blessed that my daughter was given the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful program! We are looking forward to many more years!
