Mommy's Life: morning laughs*

I just watched my daughter get on the bus and I am still giggling about the morning that just took place in our home. There is never a dull moment in this farmhouse.

My day started when my frantic almost tween came running full speed into my bedroom saying in a very concerned voice "Mom, it's time to wake up, LOOK AT MY HAIR!"

At the same time, my phone rang. It was the 80's they were requesting my child give them their hair back. And my thoughts started running wild: Um can some one please tell me who took a crimper to my child's hair in the middle of the night? I know a perfect costume idea for her this Halloween! Is she trying to recreate me at her age? Am I really that old? Please tell me I never wore my hair like this? Go back to sleep, its just a dream! Oh no, you have to wake up! Be a good mom, SAVE THE HAIR!

Obviously, there is a rational reason why my child looked like an electrocuted poodle.  After my sleep coma wore off I remembered why my daughter had a halo of frizzy-crimped-Afro framing her face. Last night she asked me to give her a "headband braid" and since it looked super cute last night, us brilliant blondes thought she would be able to sleep in it and wake up without a strand out of place. Right. Since my angelic little girl sleeps still the entire night. Wrong. The girl barrel rolls back and forth, sleeps in a headstand, and break dances her way through her dreams... that explains what caused the hair debacle to begin with.

So to save the day I had to recreate my braid in a short amount of time. She had places to go, people to see and the pressure was on to bring her hair back to the 21st century!

Half way through the process the bus pulled up at our neighbors, mind you they live 1/2 a mile from us so we still had a little time but if you've never tried to braid in a rushed state, it is not that easy! Then we forgot we didn't have a hair tie so I had to walk her into to her room, holding the end of the braid,  all while the bus inched its way closer. After securing my work of art, I shoved her out the front door, literally as she was zipping her back pack, putting one arm in her coat, and blowing me kisses. Miraculously she grew a third arm in all of this. She's a special kid. And then she realized she forgot her homework so I ran in her room and hunted it down and ran it to her, and THEN I noticed I forgot to give her her lunch box (my brother will get a kick out of this, considering he knows this isn't the first time!) so I sprinted into the kitchen and I came running outside barefoot and threw it at her, yes threw it like a football straight at her! We both just stopped in shock and then started laughing so hard, and then we laughed our way through our "I love you's, have a great day's, see you later's"  and as she walked/ran down the drive she turned, touched her hair to make sure it wasn't three inches tall anymore and smiled and mouthed "thank you." :)

No thank you, munchkin for my morning laughs!
